Anjali and her fiance Gopi, try to find grooms for her elder sisters before they can get married. All the alliances brought to the eldest sister Ashwathy falls through because she is a mute. Gopi’s friend confides in him that he has always liked Ashwathy, but was hesitant to ask for her hand as he comes from a financially strained situation. Ashwathy is happy to be married to him as she finds complete acceptance despite of her condition. The song from the movie Ee Puzhayum Kadannu, is about how he appreciates her beauty and her presence in his home.

and the beautiful lit lamp in the sacred grove of snakes]

* Thaali is a gold pendant which signifies marriage in Kerala.
** Naalillam/Naalukettu is a traditional quadrilateral housing architecture where 4 sections of the house meet in corners with an open central courtyard. Usually owned by affluent upper caste Hindus in the past; nowadays people build in that model to get the traditional look despite of what religion they are. (Wiki Link)
