Saavariya ho saavariya
ghazal aayi nee innu en kanavukalil
[Hey lover…hey lover
you became a ghazal in my dreams today]

Saavariya nin saavariya
gazal aayi nee innu en kanavukalil
[Lover…I’m your lover
you became a ghazal in my dreams today]
Nira nilaavu ezhuthum ee niramezhum kavitha aayi
mazha mukil mashi thodum mizhiyil
[Like a colorful poem penned by the full moonlight
the raincloud inks the eyes]
Manassile thalirilum theliyum ee priya mukham
kuliridum pranayam aayi ennil
[The beloved face which appears on the sprouts in the heart
became a love with a comforting chill in me]
Gazal aayi nee innu en kanavukalil
[You became a ghazal in my dreams today]

Saavariya ho saavariya
gazal aayi nee innu en kanavukalil
[Hey lover…hey lover
you became a ghazal in my dreams today]

Kaathu kaathu kaathu ninne raakkinaavin koottinullil
neela mekha thooval aayi njaanum
[I waited and waited for you in the nest of dreams at night
and I became a feathery blue cloud]
Novum aezhu janmam aayi alanja mouna raagam ente
nenjil oornna swapnam aayi neeyum
[The silent raaga which wandered for seven torturous births
slid you as a dream into my heart]
Mizhiyil mozhiyil pozhiyum madhukanam
malaril madhuram thirayukayaayi
[The drop of nectar exuding from the eyes and speech
searched for sweetness in a flower]
Vilolam aayi thedunnu ithaa nisheedhini yaamangalil
gazal aayi nee innu en kanavukalil
[Searching excitedly in the hours of the night
you became a ghazal in my dreams today]

Saavariya ho saavariya
gazal aayi nee innu en kanavukalil
[Hey lover…hey lover
you became a ghazal in my dreams today]

Nokki nokki nokki ninnu nee maranna naalil annu
neer aninja pon kinaavum aayi
[I stood there watching and waiting on the days you forgot
with a tear stained beautiful dream]
Mekhadoothum* aayi ninte kaathil moolum paattil aetho
kaattu vannu thaen chorinju ninnu
[In the song hummed in your ears, carrying the message sent on a cloud
the breeze poured honey and waited]
Uyirin chirakil alayum shishiram aayi
ini ee nimisham aliyukayaayi
[Like winter who wanders on the wings of soul
this moment dissolves]
Hindolam aayi paadaam ini ee yaaminee theerangalail
gazal aayi nee innu en kanavukalil
[Will sing a hindola raaga on the banks of this night
you became a ghazal in my dreams today]

Mmmm…

Saavariya nin saavariya
gazal aai nee innu en kanavukalil
[Lover…I’m your lover
you became a ghazal in my dreams today]
Nira nilaavu ezhuthum ee niramezhum kavitha aayi
mazha mukil mashi thodum mizhiyil
[Like a colorful poem penned by the full moonlight
the raincloud inks the eyes]
Manassile thalirilum theliyum ee priya mukham
kuliridum pranayam aayi ennil
[The beloved face which appears on the sprouts in the heart
became a love with a comforting chill in me]
Gazal aayi nee innu en kanavukalil
[You became a ghazal in my dreams today]

Mmmm…
