Thiri thiri naru thiri, thiriyude kathiroli omal chaelode
mizhiyina chimmi thozuthu unaraan innu enthaanenthaavo?
[All these lamps, the adorable rays of these lit lamps
blinking their eyes, why are they waking up with prayers today?]
Chiri chiri cheru chiri, chiriyude kuliroli innu ee muttathe
manchiraathinte chundil aerunnathu aare kandaavo?
[All these little smiles, the comfort they provide in this yard today
spreading on the lips of these mud lamps, who is that for?]

Aalolam chaanchaadan naalathil cherunne, aaro, ponthinkalo?
Poonthennal vannalum vaadathe ninnadum thaara jaalangalo?
[To sway slowly, joining the flame, who is it, the beautiful moon?
Or is it the bunch of stars, which sways without wilting even when a breeze comes?]
Uyiril nirayum ariya kinaavukale, chirakil uyaraan kothiyo?
Madhuram pakarum oru pidi nimishavum aayi, ithu vazhi poruvathu aaraaro?
[Hey pleasing dreams which fill my soul, are you longing to take wings?
With a handful of moments sharing sweetness, who is it coming this way?]

Ee theruvin orangalil
nee ezhuthidum kolamo?
[On the edges of this street,
did you make this pretty picture?]
Ee theruvin orathu neele nee ezhuthidum kolamo?, parayu ilavenn nilave…
Nee kalabham aadunna neram aa parimalam mandham en, hrudayam thazhuki azhake
[All along the edges of this street, did you make this pretty picture? tell me, hey soft moonlight]
When you put on sandalwood paste, that fragrance caressed my heart slowly, hey beauty]
Samayame nee ozhuki neengath(e)-ivide mathi vare ninnu tharoo
Nirayuka sirakalil anupama laharikale
[Hey time, please don’t flow past, wait here till I’m satiated
Fill in my veins, hey alluring ecstasies]
Pakalil aere azhakumaayi varum oru athishaya raavu tharum
Sukham ithu marayaruthu ini oru piravi vare…
[The one which comes during daytime with beauty and gives wonderful nights
this serenity should never disappear until next birth…]
kaathin oram aaro paadi
[someone sang near my ears]
