Alhamdulillah

(Translation on request for RK)
Sujatha, a mute young woman, visits Ustad, who is the head of a mosque in her town. On one such visit she gets acquainted with a travelling Sufi, who used to be a student of Ustad. Sufi and Sujatha becomes closer through letters and sketches exchanged in a journal and soon from mere attraction their love transcends into something more spiritual. A song about how God is everything from the movie Sufiyum Sujathayum.

Alhamdulillah Alhamdulillah
Alhamdulillah Alhamdulillah Alhamdulillah
[Praise be to God]

Alhamdulillah oathunnu praanan
Ee janma soonam nee thanna daanam
[My soul chants praises to the God
This flower of life is Your gift]

Mannodu mannu aayi cherum vare nin sangeethame njaan
Dhoomangal aaye paarunnu ithaa njaan, unmaadame nee
[Until I become earth to earth, I’m Your music
Like swirls of incense smoke I drift, You are my ecstasy]

Noorulla Noorulla Noorulla Noorulla
Noorulla Noorulla Noorulla Noorulla
Noorulla….
[Hey divine light of the Allah]

Padivaathil olam azhal padarunna neram
Charadu oorunnu poyidum japamaala aayi njaan
[At the time when the darkness spreads to the doorstep
I became a loosened string of prayer beads]
Irulinte* theeyil mozhi moham aalumbol
Ini engane noore oru nanni oathaan?
[When speech and desires are ablaze in the hellfire
How do I offer my gratitude, hey divine light?]

Novu aekunnon Allah! Novu aattunnon Allah!
Ee mannu ellam Allah! En jannathum Allah!
[Allah gives sorrow! He cools the pain too!
This world is all Allah! My paradise is also Allah!]
Thee aekunnon Allah! Manju aakunnon Allah!
En aanandam Allah! En aakaasham Allah! Allah! Allah!
[Allah gives fire! Allah becomes snow!
Allah brings me rapture! Allah is my sky!]

Njan mylanchi kambu aayi nikkanu
neru ezhuthiya meesan kallin pakkam
[Like a henna branch, I stand
near the grave stone on which truths are written]
Nee enna subarkkathil chaayumbol aananda moolakkam mmm…
[When I lean into the heaven that’s You, there is a joyous humming]

Noorulla Noorulla Noorulla Noorulla
Noorulla Noorulla Noorulla Noorulla
Noorulla….
[Hey the divine light of the Allah]

Novu aekunnon Allah! Novu aattunnon Allah!
Ee mannu ellam Allah! En jannathum Allah!
[Allah gives sorrow! Allah cools the pain too!
This world is all Allah! My paradise is also Allah!]
Thee aekunnon Allah! Manju aakunnon Allah!
En aanandam Allah! En aakaasham Allah! Allah! Allah!
[Allah gives fire! Allah becomes snow!
Allah brings me rapture! Allah is my sky!]

Ini engane noore oru nanni oathaan?
[How do I offer my gratitude, hey divine light?]

*Irul literally translates to darkness, but I believe here it is used as darkness of the mind, which I loosely interpreted as hell.
