*Kolam is a geometrical art form drawn using rice flour with curved lines and dots. (Wiki Link) The reference here is to call attention to the kolams which womenfolk draw early in the morning in front of their houses in Tamil Nadu.
++Podu is a Tamil verb used for lot of ‘doing’ actions. In this case, it is referring to drawing a kolam.
**Valluvar is the author of Thirukural (also known as Kural), a collection of Tamil verses written in 450-500 CE. It is considered as one of the greatest works in Tamil covering wide range of topics. (Wiki Link)
