Chilankakal tholkkum chuvadode en nadanam
Iruttinnu mele vidarunnu en chamayam
[With steps rising above the sound of dancer’s anklets, I dance
My garments blossom brightly even in the dark]
Ithal azhakode nadamaadi, malar ithal onnil madhu aayi
Tharalitha raavin kanal aayi, nirayukayaanu innu ivide
[Danced with the beauty of a petal, like nectar in a flower
As an ember on this transient night, I’m filling the space here]
Thanu ini athi mrudu viralukal oru sukha sheethala pulakitha lahariyil
oru cheru thennalu pol, pulkiduvaan, njaan ivide!
[The body to be caressed with soft fingers in a pleasant intoxicating chill
like a small breeze, to embrace, here I am!]

Chilankakal tholkkum chuvadode en nadanam
Iruttinnu mele vidarunnu en chamayam
[With steps rising above the sound of dancer’s anklets, I dance
My garments blossom brightly even in the dark]

Raathri than koottil njan minnum oru thaarakamaala
Vaanile ven thinkal chinni vidhu maadaka leela
[I’m the garland of stars which sparkle in the night’s nest
The white moon in the sky, scattered a dizzying play of moonbeams]
Maaril oru pon mullayil aayi nee mrudu chumbanam aeku
Kaaman unarumbol oru poovambinu spandanam aeku
[On my chest, give me soft kisses on the adorable jasmine
When the cupid wakes up, give heartbeats to a flowered arrow]
Maeni azhakil choodu nirayum naadhanithu maanthrika lokam
onnu kavaraan en arikil aanandam kondu mayangaan
[The warmth which fills looking at my body’s beauty creates a magical world for you lord
to rob it, to sleep next to me with happiness,]
eenam ithu melle engum oru nishayude kusruthi nirachuvo?
Ee udalil aethu kai pathiye thazhukave athisukha tharala hrudayam unarum
[did this tune slowly fill with the night’s playfulness?
On this body, which hand’s caress will make my timid heart wake up with contentment?]

Chilankakal tholkkum chuvadode en nadanam
Iruttinnu mele vidarunnu en chamayam
[With steps rising above the sound of dancer’s anklets, I dance
My garments blossom brightly even in the dark]

Anthineram melle thanchum oru thoovalu pole
paathira kaattil njaan aadum oru mohana nrutham
[Like a feather which sways slowly at dusk
in the midnight breeze, I perform this beautiful dance]
Thaen kiniyum ee meyy ithu pollunnoru venalu pole
Poo kudayum ee chundine nullaan oru kaamukan undo?
[This nectar oozing body of mine, is hot like a burning summer
Is there a lover who can pick this full flowery lips?]
Nenju nirayum monju nukaraan konji oru sundara gaanam
paadi anayum chillayil njaan aetho thaen kani alle?
[For sipping the beauty which fills the heart, a song was sung sweetly
Aren’t I the sweet fruit on the branch where you would sing and approach?]
Aethu mazha innum en arikil oru cheruchiri mozhi thannuvo?
Maeni pothiyunna kannukalil oru sharam athil athi madhura tharalam ozhuki
[Which rain gave smiling words close to me even today?
In the eyes roving over the body, an arrow flowed sweetly]
