Aaraadhike*… manju uthirum vazhi arike
naal aere aayi… kaathu ninnu mizhi niraye
[Hey the one I adore…beside this path where the snow falls
for so many days…waited for you with longing eyes]
Nee engu pokilum, akaleykku maayilum
En aashakal than mannthoniyum aayi, thuzhanju arike njan varaam
[Wherever you go, even if you disappear far away
with my mud boat of desires, I’ll come paddling to you]

Ente nenjaake nee alle? ente unmaadam nee alle?
[Aren’t you the only thing that fills my heart? Aren’t you the one who makes me go crazy?]
Ninne ariyaan, ullu nirayaan, ozhuki ozhuki njan
innum ennum oru puzha aayi
[To know you more, to feel satiated, I’ll come flowing
as a river, now and forever]

Aaraadhike*…
[Hey the one I adore…]

Pidayunna oru ente jeevanil, kinaavu thanna kanmani
nee illa enkil ennile prakaasham illini
[In my floundering life, hey precious girl who gave me dreams
if you are not there, there won’t be any radiance in me]
Mizhi neeru peytha maariyil, kedaathe kaatha punchiri
Nee enna oraa pratheekshayil erinja ponthiri
[In the storm where tears fell, that smile (that I) kept from blowing out
is a golden flame which blazed with a single hope that is you]
Manam pakuthu nalkidaam, kurumbu kondu moodidaam
Aduthu vannidaam, kothichu ninnidaam
[Let us split our hearts with each other, Let us cover each other with impishness
Let us come near and stay back with longing]
Viral koruthidaam, swayam marannidaam
ee aashakal than manthoniyum aayi thuzhanju akale poyidaam
[Let us link fingers, and forget ourselves
with this mud boat of desires, let us row far away]

Ente nenjaake nee alle? ente unmaadam nee alle?
[Aren’t you the only thing that fills my heart? Aren’t you the one who makes me go crazy?]
Ninne ariyaan, ullu nirayaan, ozhuki ozhuki njan
innum ennum oru puzha aayi
[To know you more, to feel satiated, I’ll come flowing
as a river, now and forever]

Aaraadhike…manju uthirum vazhi arike
[Hey the one I adore…beside this path where the snow falls]

Oru naal kinaavu poothidum, athil nammal onnu chernnidum
Piraakkal pole ithe vazhi nilaavil paaridum
[One day our dreams will blossom, in that we will be together
Like doves, through this path, we will fly in the moonlight]
Ninakku thanal aayi njan, ninakku thuna aayi njan
pala kanavukal, pakal iravukal
[Here I am as your shelter, here I am as your company
in many dreams, day and night]
Niram aniyum ee kadha ezhuthuvaan
ee aashakal than manthoniyum aayi thuzhanjakale poyidaam
[To pen this story adorned with colors
with this mud boat of desires, let us row far away]

Ente nenjaake nee alle? ente unmaadam nee alle?
[Aren’t you the only thing that fills my heart? Aren’t you the one who makes me go crazy?]
Ninne ariyaan, ullu nirayaan, ozhuki ozhuki njan
innum ennum oru puzha aayi
[To know you more, to feel satiated, I’ll come flowing
as a river, now and forever]

Aaraadhike*…manju uthirum vazhi arike
[Hey the one I adore…beside this path where the snow falls]

*IMO ‘Aaradhika’ means ‘someone who worships’ or ‘someone who is a devotee’, but from the context of the movie, it looks like the protagonist worships his girlfriend, not the other way. So I find it pretty weird that the word is used to mean the direct opposite here in the lyrics. 🙂 Except for that, the lyrics is so beautiful.

  1. A song that melts my heart ! An incredibly beautiful song , great composition, great melody, great singing ! Love everything about this song , the movie Ambili and it’s message !
However the word ‘ Aaradhika ‘
as you mentioned is not the appropriate word to address the object of one’s love .The man who worships his lover becomes the ‘Aradhakan’ and she then becomes his ‘aradhana patram’ ie the object of his ‘aradhana , ie adoration ! But then they will have to come up with another word to address her , that rhymes with ‘vazhiarike’ 🙂
Since we are in love with this song , we had a discussion about this very subject.
Thank you for supporting my point that the use of the word ‘aradhika’ was not proper
    Malayalam!
    PS
Love the song , the lyrics , the singer and the movie Ambili , regardless:)
    Thank you 🙏🏼
