Ponnu oonchalil, en oonchalil, amma-molkku* aayi ente thaalolangal
Kannu uranguvaan vaavuranguvaan, amma-molku aayi ente thaaraatukal
[On the beautiful swing, on my swing, for mommy-child are my cherishes
To close your eyes and sleep, for my mommy-child are my lullabies]
Nanma onninum pakaram tharaan nanni othiyaal mathiyaakilla, amme
[To reciprocate all the good deeds (you have done to me), all my gratitude will not be enough, mom]

Ponnu oonchalil, en oonchalil, amma-molkku aayi ente thaalolangal
Ponnu oonchalil, en oonchalil…
[On the beautiful swing, on my swing, for mommy-child are my cherishes
On the beautiful swing, on my swing…]

Sneham choriyum swaanthanam evide? ee chiri evide, chollaamo?
Ee manam evide? poonkulir evide? verum oru kunjaam ee njaano?
[Where is the solace which exudes love? Where is your smile, can you tell me?
Where is your heart? the pleasant chill (you provide)? is it in me, who is just a child?]
Swapnam kaanaan thalarnnu urangu
Varna pulariyil unaraan niranju urangu
[To dream, you sleep tiredly,
to wake up on the colorful morning, you sleep fully]

Ponnu oonchalil, en oonchalil, amma-molkku aayi ente thaalolangal
[On the beautiful swing, on my swing, for mommy-child are my cherishes]

Vaavaavo, vaavaavoo, ammede ammini kunjinu raariraaro
Vaavaavo, vaavaavoo, ammede ammini kunjinu raariraaro
[Vaavavo**, please sleep, mommy’s adorable child, raariraro]

Vinnu ethidum thaarakal evide? vaarmukil evide, ente amme?
Aksharam ezhuthaan poo viral evide? kusruthikal evide, ponnu amme?
[Where are the stars which reach the sky? Where is the rain cloud, my mom?
To write the letters, where are the beautiful fingers? Where are the mischiefs, beautiful mom?]
Aadra nilaavin vishaalathayil
neela pattu rumaalil kidannurangu
[In the moist moonlight’s expanse,
in blue silk hand towel***, you sleep]

*Amma-mol: Amma means mom and mol means daughter. Amma-mol is used here to denote they are pampering the mom in that video like a child.
**Vaavavo/rariraaro/aararo are soothing sounds used in Malayalam lullabies. They don’t mean much on their own, but goes well with the swaying motion of a cradle/cloth swing when you are trying to make a child sleep.
***The blue silk towel is a metaphor for night sky.
