Aetho raavil mazha chitharum thaalam
[On some night, the rain shower’s beats]
Khana khana dhundhubhi naadatharangitha
jatimaya rajaniyil ozhukidum oru thaalam
[With the thunderous sound waves
in the music filled night, flowing, these beats]
Virahathaapa chadula vegam en thaalam
[Burning in loneliness, with high tempo, my beats]
Vrathabharitha hrudaya bhaavam,
nenjuruki uruki idarum thaalam
[Filling the heart with penance,
melting and shaking the soul, this beat]

Annoru chandrika sheethala yaamini
malar shayya theerthoru aa chaaruthayil
[Once on that chilly full moon night
on the beautiful flowery bed]
Aayiram kaikalaal aa rakthapoornamaam
aa ratri engane njaan marakkum
[Bloody with thousands of hands,
how will I ever forget that night?]
Ormakal eriyum jwaalamukham aayi
Yaatana padarum jwaram aayi nadanam
[Becoming a flame of burning memories
Becoming a pain filled disease, this dance]
Chudu rudhiram kalam ezhuthukayaayi
Padachalanam paduveyil alayaayi
[Hot blood is being painted
The footfalls of dance becoming waves of burning sunlight]
Chilambanikalil thirakal, valakal kanikal,
mizhikal chuzhikal, chirakal udayum azhal ithaa!
[In the anklets (you see) waves, (on) the bangles (you see water) drops,
in the eyes (you see) whirlpools, breaking dams, this fire!]

Aetho raavil mazha chitharum thaalam
[On some night, the rain shower’s beats]

Saarasyarasabhara bandhuramaayoru,
Pranayam pakarnnoraal ini varumo?
[Sweet, fun filled and beautiful,
to impart that kind of love, will anyone ever come?]
Chandana noukayil chaandra padangalil
swayam aliyunnoraal ini varumo?
[On a sandalwood boat, on the path of moon
the one who dissolves himself, will he come?]
Chandrika thaane irul ala aayi
Maanasam aetho marubhoomikayaai
[The moon turned into a wave of darkness by itself
And my heart became a desert]
Maayika rathi manmadha manthram
manam ezhuthiya jala rekhakalaal
[This magic lust and love chants
my heart writes with these lines of rain water]
Vyatha thazhukiya nimikal, shithila mozhikal,
apadha gadhikal akhilam adiyum kadal itha
[Moments caressed by suffering, stony words,
wrong turns, all these end up here in this ocean]

Aetho raavil mazha chitharum thaalam
[On some night, the rain shower’s beats]
Khana khana dhundhuki naadatharangitha
jatimaya rajaniyil ozhukidum oru thaalam
[With the thunderous sound waves
in the music filled night, flowing, these beats]
Virahathaapa chadula vegam en thaalam
[Burning in loneliness, with high tempo, my beats]
Vrathabharitha hrudaya bhaavam,
nenjuruki uruki idarum thaalam
[Filling the heart with penance,
melting and shaking the soul, this beat]

Aetho raavil mazha chitharum thaalam
[On some night, the rain shower’s beats]
