Nishaasurabhi…Nishaasurabhi
Ninneyum aetho kaana karangal kavarnnuvo?
[Hey, fragrance in the night… hey, fragrance in the night
Were you also robbed by unseen hands?]
Manasin thalir thaalil, mayangum mayilpeeli
niravaarnnu oru ee nilaavin neerpoikayil, pookkal aayi
[In mind’s new leaf, the sleeping peacock feathers
in this full moonlit night’s clear pond, became flowers]

Parayaathe poya nerin parivesha deepthiyode
Oru nokkinu aayiram poo viriyunna mounamode
[With the radiant halo of an untold truth
With a silent look that opens thousands of flowers]
Poliyattha pookkal pol
Oru manchirathin thiru nettiyil eriyum erithiri naam
[Like flowers that never wilt
Like a burning flame on clay lamp’s forehead, we are]

Nishaasurabhi…Nishaasurabhi
Ninneyum aetho kaana karangal kavarnnuvo?
[Hey, fragrance in the night… hey, fragrance in the night
Were you also robbed by unseen hands?]

Oru kunju veena chaarthum iru thanthi alle nammal?
Pranayaardra geethamaavan ina chernna oreenam alle ?
[Aren’t we the two strings worn by a small veena*?
Aren’t we tunes coupled together to make a song of love?]
Kaviye thiranju pom kamaneeya bhaavam
chirakarnnuvo, ariya oru arayannam aayi?
[Searching for the poet, this desirable expression
did it fly off, like a marvelous swan?]

Nishaasurabhi…Nishaasurabhi
Ninneyum aetho kaana karangal kavarnnuvo?
[Hey, fragrance in the night… hey, fragrance in the night
Were you also robbed by unseen hands?]
Manasin thalir thaalil, mayangum mayilpeeli
niravaarnnu oru ee nilaavin neerpoikayil, pookkal aayi
[In mind’s new leaf, the sleeping peacock feathers
in this full moonlit night’s clear pond, became flowers]

*Veena is a string instrument
