Jeevaamsham Aayi

(Translation on request for SB)
A beautiful song from Theevandi. One of my favorites in 2018.

Jeevaamsham* aayi, thaane nee, ennil
kaalangal munne vannu
[Like a religion, you by yourself, in me
took form before all ages]
Aatmaavin ullil eeran thoomanju aayi,
thorathe peythu neeye
[In my soul, like moist snow
fell without ceasing]
Poovaadi thaedi parannu nadanna shalabhamaay nin,
kaalpaadu thaedi alanju njaan
[Searching for a garden, you flew as a butterfly
and I wandered searching for your footprints]
Aararum kaanaa manassin chirakil olicha moham,
pon peeli aayi valarnnitha
[The wish that hid from everyone’s eyes under (my) heart’s wings,
has grown into (a peacock’s) fully fledged feathers ]
Mazha pole ennil pozhiyunnu, nertha veyil aayi vannu mizhiyil thodunnu, pathivaayi…
nin anuraagam
[Like rain drizzling in me, like the warmth of sunlight touching my eyes, constantly…
is your love]
Oru kaattu pole punarunnu nenjil, Nila pole konji ozhukunnu ithennum, azhake…
ee anuraagam
[Like a breeze embracing my chest, like Nila’s gurgling flow everyday, hey beauty…
is this love]

Minnum kinaavin thiri aayi en mizhiyil,
dinam kaathu vekkam anayathe ninne njaan
[Like a twinkling dream’s flame, in my eyes,
I will keep you everyday without extinguishing]
Idanenjin ullile chudu shwasam aayi njan
Izhacherthu vechidaam vilolam aayi
[Like the warm breath in my chest
I’ll weave you (into me), with excitement]
Oro raavum pakalukal aayitha
Oro novum madhuritham aayitha
[All my nights have become (bright)days now
All my pain has become sweeter now]
Niram aezhin chiriyode, olimaaya mazhavillu aayi,
ini en vaanil thilangi neeye
[With a smile of seven colors, like a visible rainbow,
you are sparkling in my sky now]
Mazha pole ennil pozhiyunnu, nertha veyil aayi vannu mizhiyil thodunnu, pathivaayi…
nin anuraagam
[Like rain drizzling in me, like the warmth of sunlight touching my eyes, constantly…
is your love]
Oru kaattu pole punarunnu nenjil, Nila pole konji ozhukunnu ithennum, azhake…
ee anuraagam
[Like a breeze embracing my chest, like Nila’s gurgling flow everyday, hey beauty…
is this love]

Jeevaamsham aayi, thaane nee, ennil
kaalangal munne vannu
[Like a religion, you by yourself, in me
took form before all ages]

Janal padi mele, chumarukal aake,
viralal ninne ezhuthi
[On the window sills, and on the walls
with my fingers, I wrote you(r name)]
Idavazhi aake alanjoru kaattil
Neeyaam gandham thaedi
[(Flowing) Through this little bylane, in this wandering breeze,
I searched for the fragrance that is you]
Oro vaakkil oru nadhi aayi nee
Oro nokkil oru nilavu aayi nee
[In each word, you became a river
In each gaze, you became a moonbeam]
Thira paadum kadalakum, thalir omal mizhiyaale
Thirayunnu en manassu melle
[Like the sea where the waves sing, hey beauty with innocent eyes
My heart keeps searching slowly (for you)]

Jeevaamsham aayi, thaane nee, ennil
kaalangal munne vannu
[Like a religion, you by yourself, in me
took form before all ages]
Aatmaavin ullil eeran thoomanju aayi,
thorathe peythu neeye
[In my soul, like moist snow
fell without ceasing]
Poovaadi thaedi parannu nadanna shalabhamaay nin,
kaalpaadu thaedi alanju njaan
[Searching for a garden, you flew as a butterfly
and I wandered searching for your footprints]
Aararum kaanaa manassin chirakil olicha moham,
pon peeli aayi valarnnitha
[The wish that hid from everyone’s eyes under (my) heart’s wings,
has grown into (a peacock’s) fully fledged feathers ]
Mazha pole ennil pozhiyunnu, nertha veyil aayi vannu mizhiyil thodunnu, pathivaayi…
nin anuraagam
[Like rain drizzling in me, like the warmth of sunlight touching my eyes, constantly…
is your love]
Oru kaattu pole punarunnu nenjil, Nila pole konji ozhukunnu ithennum, azhake…
ee anuraagam
[Like a breeze embracing my chest, like Nila’s gurgling flow everyday, hey beauty…
is this love]

*Jeevaamsham – I saw the word translation as religion at many places. It could also mean jeevante amsham or ‘a part of life’.
