Mayil Aale (Janah meri Janah)

(Translation on request for SB)
A very catchy melody from the movie Cappuccino. I’ll admit this song is a little wacky when it comes to making sense. So I have used my imagination a little bit in parenthesis to fill in the blanks. 🙂

To listen to the song, click play:

Mayil aale… azhakaale… Mayil aale…azhakaale…
[Hey peahen…with your beauty…Hey peahen… with your beauty]

Kannum pootti irunnu nenchil, kaathil melle chollaan ullil
poraamo?…nee poovaake?
[With your closed eyes in my heart, to whisper in my ears sweet nothings,
will you come, in a flower?]
Kannum pootti irunnu nenchil, kannil kannil kaanan ullil
poraamo… nee manassaale?
[With your closed eyes in my heart, to look into each other’s eyes,
will you come, happily?]
Nirayaathe nirayune… azhaku aerum azha noole…
Sakhi* ninne thirayunnu njaan… iniyum
[(Love is) Filling up without realizing… you beautiful thread (weaved into me)
Dear, I’m searching for you… again]

Janah meri janah, tu meri janah
Azhakaale… Mayil aale…
[Dearest my dearest, you are my dearest
With your beauty…. Hey peahen]

Kaathoram paadan vaayo, nenchoram choodan vaayo, poove…
Nee vaadathe koode
[Come sing near me,let me wear you close to my heart, hey flower…
without wilting, come with me]
Naalere kanaathullal rappadichinthum mooli njaano
Nee vaa dooram
[Missing you for a long time, humming a night bird’s song, I
You come (to me) closing this distance]
Paazhu irul maayunnitha…thaal ithal chokkunnithaa…
En uyirin uyiraal pathiye nirayaan manamaake nanayunnitha**
[This needless darkness is disappearing… the petals are becoming pink***
(You are coming) As my life’s life to slowly fill me, my heart is eager]

Pranayam, nirayathe nirayunne… azhakerum azha noole…
Sakhi ninne thirayunnu njaan…iniyum
[Love is filling up without realizing… you beautiful thread (weaved into me)
Dear, I’m searching for you… again]

Janah meri janah, tu meri janah
Azhakaale… Mayil aale…
[Dearest my dearest, you are my dearest
With your beauty…. Hey peahen]

Janah meri janah, tu meri janah
Azhakaale… Mayil aale…
[Dearest my dearest, you are my dearest
With your beauty…. Hey peahen]

*Sakhi literally means friend. Here it is used in a romantic way.
**Manamaake nanayunnitha – literally means my heart is becoming moistened
***Possibly referring to sunrise.

    1. You are welcome, SB. And I really appreciate your constant support. Most of the time I don’t even get an acknowledgement if the requester saw the translation. 🙂

  2. Same here , infact year ago i also had a translation site like you , but no one even liked or commented my blog . Its very bad when no one appreciates our effort and i know it takes a long time & a hard work to translate a song in correct way . That’s why i always appreciate your effort. Keep Translating 😀

    1. I will. Even if no one’s reading, I want to keep a collection of good songs I have liked and their translations. I am hoping my son would appreciate at least some of them. 🙂
