Thelimaanam mazhavillin niramaniyum neram
niramaarnnoru kanavennil theliyunna pole
[When the clear sky starts wearing the colors of a rainbow,
a colorful dream is unfolding in me ]
Puzhayoram thazhukunnee thanuveeran kaattum
Pulakangal izha neythoru kuzhaloothiya pole
[This cool and moist breeze touching the banks of the river,
is playing a flute weaved with happiness]

Kulirekum kanavu ennil kathiraadiya kaalam
Manatharil madhumaasam thaliraadiya neram
[When thrilling daydreams sway in this season,
a sweet nectar fills my mind in this hour]
Akamaruvum mayilinakal thuyilunarum kaalam
Enn akatharil anuragam pakarunna yaamam
[When the peacock couple wakes up in my mind,
is when love spreads in my heart]
Azhake…Azhakil theerthoru shilayazhake
Malare*…Enn uyiril vidarum panimalare
[Hey beauty…You are a skillfully made stone sculpture,
Hey Malar…You are a flower who blooms in my life]

Malare ninne kaanathirunnal
Mizhivekiya niramellam mayunna pole
[Malar if I don’t see you,
it feels like all colors are fading]
Alivoden arikathayi anayathirunnal
Azhakekiya kanavellam akalunna pole
[If you do not take pity and come to me,
it feels like all my dreams are moving afar]

**Njanente athmavin aazhathinullil
athilolam aarorum ariyathe sookshicha…
[In the depth of my soul,
I had softly, secretly stored…]
…thaalangal raagangal eenangalayi,
ororo varnangalaay
[…beats and ragas and they became tunes,
and became a cluster of colors]

Idarunnorente idanenjinullil
Pranayathin mazhayaayi nee pozhiyunnee naalil
[In this swaying guy’s heart,
You are falling as rain of love today]
Thalarunnorente thanu thorum ninte
alathallum pranayathal unarum Malare
[And my tired body
is kept awake by waves of your love, Malar]

Azhake…
[Hey beauty…]

Kulirekum kanavu ennil kathiraadiya kaalam
Manatharil madhumaasam thaliraadiya neram
[When these thrilling daydreams sway in this hour,
a sweet nectar fills in my mind ]
Akamaruvum mayilinakal thuyilunarum kaalam
Enn akatharil anuragam pakarunna yaamam
[When the peacock couple wakes up in my mind,
is when love spreads in my heart]
Azhake…Azhakil theerthoru shilayazhake
Malare*…Enn uyiril vidarum panimalare
[Hey beauty…You are a skillfully made stone sculpture,
Hey Malar…You are a flower who blooms in my life]

  1. Possibly my favourite movie in a very long time. So much so, that I watch it from bits and pieces according to my mood. Considering there is a song called Scene Contra in the same movie, reading the meaning of the lyrics of this song were truly refreshing.
